DYT Hotel
For this project, we had the distinct honor of collaborating with the esteemed interior design firm Studio Munge and GZ Art Co. Together, we crafted a collection of artworks that are both unique and exquisite, infusing the space with refined elegance and cultural depth.Drawing inspiration from the natural grandeur and rich heritage of Qingdao — from the majestic Laoshan Mountain to the ethereal Sea of Clouds — the artists captured the essence of the city’s distinctive landscapes. Elements such as the East China Sea were reinterpreted through the lens of modern craftsmanship, revealing the shifting beauty of nature across the seasons and the vibrant pulse of life itself. The works reflect the profound harmony between humanity and nature, echoing the timeless wisdom of Eastern philosophy.
Interwoven within the artworks are iconic cultural motifs: the coastal skyline, Qingdao’s city flower, and the historic Diaoyutai Mansion. These symbols not only pay homage to Qingdao’s enduring cultural spirit but also echo the unique identity of the hotel brand. Through the seamless fusion of traditional craftsmanship and contemporary artistic expression, these pieces have become an enduring emblem of the brand’s distinguished image.
Gracefully placed throughout the hotel, the artworks unfold like an elegant scroll in motion, guiding guests on a poetic journey through the space and enriching every encounter with an atmosphere of thoughtful artistry.

The mountains of Laoshan gradually reveal themselves, the clouds stretch endlessly toward the sea, and mist weaves through the forests — a scene unfolding like a grand, lyrical landscape poem. Within the hotel lobby, we have integrated intricate artworks to craft a poetic and immersive atmosphere, accentuating the distinctive character of Qingdao Diaoyutai Hotel.
Through the seamless fusion of landscape painting and glass reliefs, the artworks vividly depict the undulating contours of the mountains. Every detail captivates the eye, drawing guests into a mesmerizing narrative. Paying homage to Qingdao’s breathtaking natural scenery and its rich maritime culture, the pieces convey the Diaoyutai Hotel’s deep reverence and affection for the city. Inspired by the graceful silhouette of the Guanyin vase, this hand-painted ceramic piece draws from ancient traditions where such vases once served as prestigious centerpieces in the homes of distinguished figures. Today, it seamlessly echoes the luxury, refinement, and timeless elegance of the Diaoyutai Hotel.
Admiring the vase, one is invited to appreciate its harmonious beauty while sensing the dignified solemnity symbolized by the official seal. The work exudes an understated grace — the glaze radiates a fresh, pure luster, and the smooth, flowing lines breathe vitality into the form, offering a sense of lightness and serenity.
As a reflection of the hotel’s cultural soul, this exquisite piece not only provides visual pleasure but also delivers a unique artistic experience, embodying the spirit of refinement that defines Diaoyutai Hotel.
The artwork captures the ethereal beauty of the Laoshan Mountains on a misty, rain-soaked day. Gentle yet persistent rain drapes the mountains in a gauzy veil, while pine trees sway gracefully in the breeze.
The use of soft cyan hues lends the scene a fresh, natural vitality, gently inviting the viewer to step into the painting and lose themselves in its serene, dreamlike atmosphere.
Sea of Clouds
This series of artworks draws inspiration from the mesmerizing sea of clouds over Laoshan. Centered on the imagery of clouds, the works convey a gentle, serene ambiance, capturing the distinctive natural beauty of the region.
In traditional Chinese landscape painting, clouds are vital elements — they breathe life into static scenes, infusing them with movement and spirit. Historically, clouds have also symbolized fortune and auspiciousness in Chinese culture.
With these rich meanings in mind, we placed this artwork at the entrance of the parking lift, extending heartfelt wishes of prosperity and good fortune to every guest who arrives.
Tides and Clouds
This piece continues the narrative of the Sea of Clouds series.
Billowing clouds ascend freely above the vast sea, illuminated by soft, shimmering light. The artwork captures a delicate interplay between fantasy and reality, motion and stillness, abstraction and form.
It reflects a harmonious balance, inviting viewers into a space where imagination and nature seamlessly converge.
This artwork continues the narrative thread of the Sea of Clouds series, drawing inspiration from one of the renowned Twelve Views of Laoshan — Taiqing Shuiyue.
It captures the enchanting moment when mist rises alongside a full moon, and moonlight cascades gently across the drifting clouds. As the interplay of light transforms the clouds into a translucent veil, the scene takes on an ethereal, dreamlike quality, infusing the space with a soft, romantic atmosphere.
This installation series draws inspiration from the uniquely shaped islands surrounding Qingdao. Over centuries, the local people have cultivated a harmonious and interdependent relationship with the land. Though the landscape has evolved over time, their deep affection for this land has remained steadfast.
The circular patterns in the background abstractly symbolize the urban development of the city, while the craftsmanship pays homage to traditional lace-making techniques. The artist employed forged copper and metalworking processes to craft the reliefs, capturing the essence of the coastal scenery.
By blending diverse artisanal techniques, the work achieves a unique balance between texture and form. Strategically placed throughout the hallway, the installation engages in a subtle dialogue with the external environment, creating a seamless connection between the interior space and the natural world beyond.
Yuyuan (Imperial Garden Elegance)
This artwork distills the architectural beauty of the Diaoyutai Imperial Garden, capturing its refined elegance and grandeur.
Employing UV multi-color three-dimensional relief techniques combined with modern ink overprinting, the piece vividly conveys the luxurious and graceful essence of the Imperial Garden, seamlessly blending classical charm with contemporary craftsmanship.
Dialogue with the Landscape
The two artworks within the room create a harmonious dialogue, both centered on the majestic landscapes of Laoshan.
In the sofa area, wire filigree combined with glazing techniques vividly captures the shifting scenery of the mountains at sunset. The flowing variations of the wire mirror the ever-changing hues and contours as day transitions into dusk.
Behind the dining table, a piece crafted with leather carving technique portrays one of Qingdao’s famed scenes — “Leaning against a pine tree, gazing at the moon, and listening to the sea breeze.” The artwork gently introduces a sense of breeze and tranquility into the dining space, creating an atmosphere of calm elegance.
Bloom of Nobility
This artwork continues the theme centered around Qingdao’s city flower — the camellia. Using the camellia as the principal design motif, the artist skillfully combines ground glass with enamel to create a composition that is both radiant and harmoniously structured.
The rounded contours evoke a sense of completeness, vividly capturing the beauty and vitality of life. The piece elegantly portrays the flourishing camellias in full bloom, reminiscent of the splendid scenes within the imperial gardens of the Qing Palace.
In Chinese culture, the camellia symbolizes nobility. Building on this cultural significance, the series presents vibrant and colorful blooming scenes, infusing the dining room with dynamic energy and elevating the overall ambiance with refined grace.
Sail
This abstract bronze sculpture captures the fleeting moment when a sailboat ventures out to sea. With its smooth, flowing contours, the artwork embodies the spirit of movement as the sail shifts and billows in the wind — a tribute to Qingdao’s reputation as the sailing capital of China.
The sculpture symbolizes the courage and hope of navigating through turbulent seas. Its dynamic form injects a sense of vitality into the space, imbuing the environment with energy and a sense of forward momentum.
Sleeping Under the Clouds
The concept behind all the bed screen artworks stems from a desire to create a serene atmosphere, inviting guests to drift into peaceful dreams embraced by nature.
This series continues to depict the sea of clouds over Laoshan in Qingdao, an iconic motif regarded as the soul of the landscape.
From a traditional Chinese aesthetic perspective, beauty often lies in the interplay between stillness and motion — where the calmness of water meets the shifting clouds, the scene becomes alive and vivid. The artworks evoke this harmony between humanity and nature, rendered in soft, soothing colors that infuse the space with tranquility and gentle relaxation.
Sleeping Under the Trees
This artwork continues the concept of falling asleep embraced by nature.
Leaves drift quietly from the branches, releasing a faint, refreshing fragrance. The ancient ginkgo tree stands tall and resolute, offering a sense of shelter and calm. Resting beneath its canopy, one can feel the gentle nurturing of nature, savor the present moment, and, with a deep breath, slip peacefully into a dream.
Delicate embroidery techniques were used to breathe life into the composition, adding subtle vitality and texture to the serene scene.
