CP Center

The Chia Tai Center Art Project is located in the heart of Beijing’s CBD, adjacent to iconic landmarks such as China Zun and CCTV Headquarters. As a flagship building of the Charoen Pokphand Group (CP Group) in China, it holds significant corporate value. We undertook the original art design for this project, guided by CP Group’s philosophy rooted in agriculture and social responsibility. The artworks incorporate elements of “light, water, and temperature,” symbolizing natural forces in agricultural production, and are expressed through a modern aesthetic to evoke both environmental and spatial resonance.

This artwork draws its inspiration from the element of water and is crafted using high-temperature fired ceramic panels, embodying vitality and fluidity. The intersecting metal lines resemble wheat stalks, symbolizing abundance and hope. The combination of organic ceramic textures with the structured metallic form reflects the harmony between nature and growth. This fusion of materials and meaning represents the company’s agricultural roots and its forward-looking vision, resonating with CP Group’s enduring spirit and progress.

This set of three sculptural artworks, crafted from wood and acrylic, is installed at the heart of the Chia Tai Center lobby. Under ambient lighting, the pieces reflect and refract light like twinkling stars, perfectly aligning with the lobby’s overarching theme of “light.” The warm texture of wood paired with the clarity of acrylic creates a dialogue between nature and technology, evoking a serene yet dynamic atmosphere. These works embody both artistic presence and symbolic meaning—representing the company’s pursuit of light, growth, and a forward-looking future.

This monumental artwork stands as the focal point of the main lobby, reaching an impressive height of 10.8 meters and nearly 3.5 meters in width. Forged entirely by hand from a single copper panel, it represents the most time-intensive and technically demanding piece in the entire project. To meet installation challenges, embedded fixtures were pre-installed within the wall structure, and the artwork was mounted prior to the lobby doors being put in place. Visually, the form evokes a cascading waterfall, its powerful downward motion symbolizing the gathering of energy and prosperity. Each stream also resembles a wheat stalk, a nod to CP Group’s agricultural roots and a metaphor for abundance. The piece powerfully blends craftsmanship, symbolism, and the corporate spirit, anchoring the space with both visual and cultural weight.

This metal installation centers around the theme of “rippling light.” Composed of numerous reflective metal panels, the piece interacts with ambient light and the viewer’s movement, creating a dynamic, ever-changing visual experience. Like sunlight dancing on water, the surface shimmers and flows, adding energy and sensory engagement to the space. The design skillfully navigates structural constraints—such as the air vents on either side—demonstrating a seamless integration of functionality and artistry. It stands as a striking and intelligent visual highlight within the lobby.

Crafted from hand-forged copper, this sculpture draws inspiration from the concept of “river” (川), embodying the traces left by flowing water over time. Its undulating layers resemble landforms shaped by erosion, evoking both the strength of nature and the passage of time. The delicate craftsmanship captures the dynamic tension of movement within stillness—like water carving through terrain. The form symbolizes vitality and resilience, reflecting a journey of steady progress and deep-rooted growth.

This group of white marble sculptures is inspired by the natural erosion of stone by flowing water over time. The gentle yet powerful forms reflect the enduring force of nature, captured through the material’s purity and tactile texture. Each piece resembles traces left by water’s persistent shaping, conveying a quiet vitality. The combination of form and material speaks to the philosophy of water—nurturing without contention—and mirrors the company’s steady growth through adaptability and balance with nature.
